How you hold the handle of a bucket, cooler or your groceries really does make a difference in how your shoulder joint works.
If you happen to grab on to the handle in the thumb down position with your thumb pointing towards you then you try to lift up, that puts your shoulder at a really high risk of pinching the rotator cuff tendons.
If instead you can have your thumb pointing away from you in the thumbs up position and lift up this way, that's going protect your shoulder more than a thumb down position.
Anytime you can remember to lift things with your thumb pointing away from you in the thumbs up position, that's the safest way to go.
