If you have point specific pain, which is pain where you can feel a sore spot when pressing on a bony spot, it responds really well to a five minute ice massage. Take a really big styrofoam cup, the bigger the better, fill it with water and put it in the freezer. The next day, it'll be a big chunk of ice. Tear off the top edge of the styrofoam cup so you have about an inch of ice exposed. The flat surface of the ice will go directly on your skin. Move the ice in little circles for the whole five minutes. The cold penetrates the inflamed tendon attachment to the bone and puts out the fire fast so you can heal, repair, recover and move forward. Do it as often as you feel like you need it but just five minutes on the spot that hurts.
